Day 4 – Me and my playfulness

This probably has been the most playful Monday we have ever had. We started morning with a relaxing Yoga session which was right on time before moving to another level of yoga – Acro Yoga. For those who wonder what type of exercise is it, it is a combination of acrobatics and yoga. For majority of us it was the first time practicing it. We appreciated a lot that we were able to trust and be trusted with other people bodies and our own. We were flying, also literally. It is a very good exercise to connect to other people and learn how to trust other person and a good way to build relationships.

We are starting to feel the change in ourselves, becoming more relaxed and easy. And it is also easier to be ourselves in the presence of the others.

In our first day, we were asked to pick 5 most important things that Circus must have and today we had a chance to go through all of them.

1. Penguins. Did you know that penguins are important for circus? They are in our opinion! We were able to reach the evolution towards being a penguin through playing “rock, scissor, paper” going level by level. We were quite surprised that our trainers were able to find a way to include this idea for circus. That’s quite great.

2. Clowns. Acting like a clown might be harder than one might think but to our surprise everyone gave 100% in this exercise and we were able to see some great and fun performances and developed many new ideas for our future performances. It was also fun to be able to change people performances, those who already thought of something we were able to interrupt or help them as a result creating completely new performance.

We believe that through theatre it is easier to get to know others plus it is great to laugh with everyone.

Even though it is still difficult to be in front of the audience, the more we do it, the easier it becomes. Moreover, we start to get to know our audience so we become more comfortable, open and relaxed.

3. Audience. Apart from just watching today we were able also to join the performances, i.e. to have the opportunity to add to one’s performance and help them. We definitely developed more empathy in the process. Moreover, some of us after performing, after the stress had passed and after we had relaxed, we wanted to go again. Stage is very contagious

4. Magicians. This is where we were creating a magic through choreography by imitating the shapes we have been given and asking other teams to guess which ones they are. Even though for some of the teams, communication barrier existed it didn’t stop us from creating.

5. Director. This time we had the opportunity to direct an orchestra made from the instruments found in wild, either in the bushes, on the side of the roads, or anywhere or anything we might think would make a sound. Another opportunity for our creativity to shine.

Common Senses programme is very well organised, after something that is challenging either physically or mentally we have something more relaxed to do.

Today was up to each other to decide how to enjoy it and how to play. We discovered that everyone played differently, so play means different things to different people.

In childhood we used a lot of our creativity, and expressed it through theatre, dancing, music… Unfortunately with age we lose it. We believe that we all have different and many talents J To mix them all, use all of our talents those who we know and not know about or have forgotten about… And this programme offers it all.
