Reduce - Reuse - Recycle is a 10 day youth exchange in Ommen, the Netherlands focusing on the theme of creative recycling and how this can be used to develop working skills for 30 youngsters, youth leaders and volunteers of 5 European countries (Netherlands, Romania, Greece, Malta, Italy).
The Mission.
The mission of this youth exchange is to empower creativity and raise awareness on environmental issues, such as the possibility of reducing consumes, reusing the products, recycling them and so forth act responsibly towards environment.
Participants of this project will practice to identify environmental issues and create promotional media products on these issues.
During the activity participants will actively practice creative recycling together with a team of experts in a peer to peer setting and discuss the issue of waste of goods in contemporary societies. The objects created will be functioning and usable in everyday life. Creating ideas on how to make functioning tools out of trash and put them into practice will develop skills and talents that can be useful for the participants in a longer term perspective, it will develop their spirit of entrepreneurship and have an employability dimension.
Inspiration.
We believe that everyone can recycle. The question is how much aware are we not only of recycling but reducing and reusing. Reducing Reusing and Recycling are all parts of a chain that are interconnecting.
In this exchange we want to examine all the three parts of this chain and approach them with a creative way.
The Goals.
During REDUCE – REUSE - RECYCLE participants work in a structure that gives them opportunities to share their experience on environmental issues, reducing waste, reusing products and create artwork with recycled materials, participate in workshops, receive feedback, and continuously improve their skills.
After 4 days in the exchange, participants choose a product to develop. A product can be a recycled piece of art, a series of useful recycled items etc.
